Whalebuy works as a China shopping agent. It purchases goods on Chinese marketplaces for customers abroad, keeps them in a warehouse, photographs them and sends them out in parcels you put together. Who runs Whalebuy
The legal name printed on Whalebuy's contact page is XINGKUN TRADING CO., LIMITED, with an office address in Hong Kong. Customer service answers at [email protected]; reports about counterfeit goods go to a separate address, [email protected]. The terms every new account agrees to, the user registration agreement, name a district of Hangzhou in Zhejiang as the place it is concluded. The company runs the website, a mobile app, and an official YouTube channel that posted seventeen short videos during August 2026.
The site itself runs on a white-label agent platform shared with other agent brands; several help articles are word for word the same on those sites. That matters only in one way: a few help pages still carry another brand's name in passing, so when a page contradicts itself, the newer article and the screen at checkout are what to trust.
Duties shared by all China buying agents
Strip away the branding and the job breaks into five parts. It buys the item from the Chinese seller in yuan. It receives the seller's parcel at a warehouse inside China. It checks and photographs what arrived. It stores it while you shop for more. And it hands the combined parcel to an international carrier. Prices on the marketplaces are the same whichever agent buys for you; the differences are in fees, freight lines, photo policy, storage time and how problems get solved.
So the honest comparison between agents is never "who has the item", since they all reach the same sellers. It is how much the route costs to your door and how the agent behaves when an item is wrong. Judge Whalebuy, or any rival, on those.
Where Whalebuy differs
Four things stood out when we used the site for this catalogue. First, there is no percentage service fee on goods: the official fee page names three parts only: what the item and its Chinese delivery cost, the freight line, and a declaration charge of about CNY 8 per parcel. Second, the shipping estimator at whalebuy.com/estimation works without an account and returns real line prices, which is how we priced every parcel on this site. Third, the site search includes a 1688 channel, so factory-direct listings are as easy to reach as Taobao.
Fourth, the packing services suit weather buying. A vacuum bag shrinks winter clothing, a moisture barrier bag protects against damp ports, and the CNY 20 rehearsal packing tells you a parcel's real size before you choose a line. Extra photos cost CNY 1 each, which makes checking a seam or a fill label cheap. The company also advertised video inspection on its homepage during summer 2026, and the order form has a Custom Video link.
Orders Whalebuy handles poorly
Some things are less clear than they should be. Two help articles price a PayPal top-up differently: USD 0.30 plus 4.5 per cent, or USD 0.30 plus 3.7 per cent. The warehouse is in Xiamen, Fujian, though its street address only shows once you are signed in. The fee page says nothing beyond goods, freight and declaration is charged, while a newer charges page leaves room for a service fee on optional extras. None of these is hidden, but you have to read two pages to see the contradiction.
Returns are short and on you. The seller's return service runs for 120 hours from the Stocked-in status, and the buyer pays return postage both ways unless the seller covers it. Battery goods and liquids are restricted on many lines. If a haul is dominated by fragrance, power banks or heavy furniture, or you need long return windows, a different agent or a local shop may suit you better. For clothing, bags and accessories ordered a season ahead, Whalebuy's set-up fits well.
Why a weather-sorted catalogue
Most catalogues for agent buyers are sorted by category, which is efficient if you already know what you want. We sort by weather for three reasons that came out of building the shelves. Buyers think in conditions: rain next month, a hot trip, a cold winter. The failure points of a product depend on the weather it faces: seam tape in rain, fill in cold, plating in sweat. And the parcel depends on it too, because winter clothing is priced by size, not weight.
